Wedding at Christ the King Parish in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Mr and Mrs Hanisch.

God gave Melanie and Read the most perfect spring wedding day in May. I think it's because He knew nothing short of breezy weather and warm yellow sunlight would be appropriate as the bride and groom rode in style in the Old Urban Trolley with their dearest friends from the Parish of Christ the King to Tulsa Country Club. Beauty permeated every part of their day, not just in the weather. From Southern Stems' pastel florals, to the quiet moments of thanksgiving given in the Adoration chapel, to the speeches praising and loving on the couple, loveliness and grace filled each moment.

One such moment that I still often reminiscence about happened early in the day. While girls were getting dresses steamed and makeup done, Melanie's mom handed me a well loved, used, and very treasured family heirloom. It was Melanie's grandma's Catholic Church missal - one she used every week. It still had her various markings and Holy Cards. With a tear in her eye, she asked me if I could take some photographs of it with her bridal details. She didn't have to say more. It became my favorite piece to photograph that day. Family heirlooms like this are exactly why I believe it's so important to take these sorts of pictures– for both the pieces that are already heirlooms and the pieces that will become treasured memories.

Second favorite part of the day? It was a quiet moment. Some context: Melanie and Read met in the adoration chapel at Christ the King. Fast forward to their wedding day. After the hustle and bustle of the mass and family formals, we stole away for just a few moments to go in and pray. Two people who met in the presence of Our Lord now had vowed their hearts to one another in His house. Ugh. I was such a big fan of this!

Love after joy filled the rest of the day. There isn't anything quite like that "I just got married!!" high. (Eating wedding cake does come pretty close, though.) The joy is infectious. It was felt in every speech, each dance, bite of cake, and laughter shared between family and friends. I'm a sucker for a good wedding and this one had me in happy tears a few times.

Enjoy some of my very favorite photos from this beautiful day. I can't wait for Read's sister's wedding at Christ the King later this year!
